Mr. Gleb (2020)
For the spring of 2020, my production team’s plans changed due to the covid 19 pandemic. We had to adapt from a production team to a postproduction team working remotely. Instead of making our own short film, we were tasked with doing all the post work for previously shot footage. The footage was for a short film titled Mr. Gleb.
As Sound Editor and Designer I had to create the soundscape for the film. Not only did I mix together the existing audio in a pleasing way, I recreated the atmosphere for shots with unusable audio. Using only myself, my brother, and a microphone, I had to shape the way a chaotic classroom of scared students would sound like. With only a computer and guitar, I composed the music and a lot of the eerie noises that decorate the film.
Sound was only half the battle for Mr. Gleb, however. I’d find myself wanting more for the piece after it was considered finished.
Mr. Gleb Continued
That summer, Mr. Gleb was already completed for a month or so. However, my small team had a fast approaching deadline where we could only achieve so much. The short showed so much promise — so, that summer, I decided to try my hand at refining it.
Color
Mr. Gleb had many inconsistencies in color between shots, and our picture editor hardly had time to color correct. The film was shot in a log format, and it still looked flat at our deadline. I set out to simply color correct the footage, but ended up experimenting with color grading as well.

Intro Sequence
The production team had an entire day of footage that was never intended to be used. It was simply footage of a well desk with a pet lizard and a few other science classroom ornaments; however, it was the best footage on the entire drive gone to waste. Our original product used one shot from that entire day of footage to create a short title sequence. I took it upon myself to create a new title sequence using this footage to the fullest extent.
